Hollywood Kids Can Sing!

As part of our Triple Threat Program, Hollywood Kids Academy offers a unique course of study for singing and music instruction called BROADWAY VOICE. Students involved in this dynamic vocal coaching program will gain a solid foundation for any other musical instruction they receive throughout their growing up years, as well as confidence singing in groups and on their own. They will focus on the Broadway experience and curriculm, but will learn various techniques and the history of Broadway performance. This program is designed progressively, so that children will build gradually upon each previous year’s experience. This will help them to gain the vocal skills and confidence necessary to perform on stage in everything from solos to plays.

Broadway Voice Juniors (ages 6-11)

This class focuses on teaching music basics in the using a mix of the Kodaly and Orff systems of music education. Most of the things we’ll focus on will have to do with internalizing beat, rhythm, pitch, intervals, etc. Every child in this class will learn to use solfege (do, re, mi, fa, etc.) along with the hand signals associated with each pitch. We’ll be using folk music and other familiar music with simple intervals, including some cool Disney and Broadway songs, complete with actions! Kids will learn the basics of singing and become comfortable singing in groups and alone. We will also begin to introduce written music in a fun and engaging way. The use of instruments and singing games helps ensure that everything we do in this class will be varied and always fun and enjoyable.

Broadway Voice I (11 & up)

Beginning to Intermediate level vocal instruction. This class is designed to teach kids proper support and vocal postitioning. Students will also learn vocalizing in the Broadway style as well as the history of Broadway Musicals. This is not a technique class. This class end with a performance each semester. This class is required for Triple Threats.

Broadway Vocal Technique Class (14 - up) Advanced

Intermediate to Advanced leve Vocal Class. This is a class for vocalists who want a challenge. We will be reviewing basic skills and keeping in good habits as we build chord strength and work on expanding our range. This class is based on the speech level method which allows the vocalist to sing any style of their choice. Students will be learning to sing chorally and develop as soloists. This class is not a performing class, it is strictly technique. This class is not an entry level class. This class is required for Triple Threats

Ovation – ages 16-18 (Broadway Vocal Technique Class Required)

Ovation is Hollywood Kids Academy’s premiere vocal ensemble. This unique group places an emphasis on variety and quality in our performances. All types of music will be sung in Ovation – these kids will be pros at performing classical, jazz, broadway (with choreography), and solo works. Ovation will tour and compete in regional and national competitions and festivals. Through this group, teens will learn the importance of professionalism and quality. Their horizons will expand as they gain confidence and experience. This is where it comes back to the Triple Threat!
