Hollywood Kids Dance Program

Hollywood Kids Academy is proud to offer a comprehensive DANCE program. Hollywood Kids/Teens may take as many classes as they’d like and in whichever dance form interests them the most. Our students involved in this dynamic dance program will gain a solid foundation for all other forms of dance. They will study counting, rhythm, musicality, dance terminology, spatial motion, basic Kinesiology, beat patterns, music theory, timing, stage terminology and showmanship.  Whether they want to be a “singer who moves”, a “dancer who sings”,  “a  dancer” or just be a more confident “chorus member”,  these classes will inspire them to reach for the stars.

For our more dedicated dance students we are proud to offer a special "TRIPLE DANCE" or "3D" program". This program allows these serious students to take three classes per semester as part of our "3D"Curriculm and receive a significant discount. As these students progress through this program they will receive certification and graduate from our Hollywood Kids Academy "TRIPLE DANCE" Program. Each student declares a "Major" area of study with two "Minor" areas of emphais. For example, a student may major in Ballet and Minor in Jazz and Tap. All courses last for the entire season and are designed progressively, so that students will build gradually upon each previous year's experience. The purpose of our program is to ensure that your students recieve the most comprehensive and the best quality dance education possible. Our graduates will be prepared to continue on with their college and career opportunities.

Course Descriptions: Beginning / Intermediate / Advanced

(Beginning classes available for all ages)
Ballet View Ballet Instruction

A classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Ballet is a must for any dancer. Through Ballet we learn proper alignment, our center of balance, how to avoid injury and provide the most movement possible.

Students in Ballet classes are to wear light pink (ballet pink) tights, black or pink leotards (preferably short sleeve), with pink ballet shoes (Students that already have black ballet shoes from a previous show can be used, but eventually all dancers need to have pink ballet shoes. (Note: most ballet shoes require you to purchase one size smaller than your street shoe size because the leather will stretch and mold to your foot).

Lyrical View Lyrical Instruction
A combination of modern and ballet movements used to express deep feeling or tell a story. Beautifully fluid and graceful. Requires knowledge of ballet and modern terminology.

Modern Dance View Dance Instruction

A form of contemporary theatrical and concert dance employing a special technique for developing the use of the entire body in movements expressive of abstract ideas.

Modern attire is more casual.  Any modest leotard coupled with dance pants/shorts is fine. Bare feet is traditional, ballet or jazz shoes are also acceptable..

Jazz View Jazz Instruction
A dance started in the early 1900's with popular dance moves to jazz music. What grew from there is what you see on Broadway, MTV, street dancing, cheer-leading squads and drill teams - all of which has been influenced by African, Latin, Hip-Hop, Disco, Tap, and Modern. Syncopation is one of the elements that give jazz dance its edge and excitement, the jazz dancer has a direct and expressive relationship to the music.

Jazz classes wear same attire as ballet may add black dance pants.  Black jazz shoes.

Performance Jazz View Jazz Instruction

Performance Jazz: Performance Jazz is for the advanced dancer who is enrolled in the 3D program and has taken at least two years of ballet. This class focuses on choreography, jumps, turns and showmanship.

Jazz classes wear same attire as ballet may add black dance pants.  Black jazz shoes.

Hip Hop View Hip Hop Instruction

Hip-Hop has its roots in urban culture, percussive music, and incorporates various movement forms. This class concentrates on proper technique and musicality as a new and trendy dance style. Get ready to learn the latest moves and get in shape with Hip Hop! Dancers will be taught the basics of rhythm, timing, and sequencing. We will infuse this fun new form with the technical basics and vocabulary of jazz dance.

Leotard of their choice may add loose fitting clothing. Dance sneakers if they have them, otherwise it will be jazz shoes.

Tap View Tap Instruction

We teach a blend of Broadway and Rhythm tap. Tap dancing has been shown to stimulate brain activity, helping to improve hand eye coordination, math skills and response time. It’s fun, lively and teaches rhythm skills.

Tap is same as above, the teens can add a dance skirt/dance shorts or dance pants.
