Costume List Costume List

Congratulations on being cast in High School Musical.  This is going to be so much fun!!  High School Musical (HSM) takes place over five school days.  Anytime your character is on stage on a different day, you will need a different costume.  All costumes will be regular school clothes, except for Sharpay and Ryan.  We will provide uniforms for cheerleaders and basketball players.  We will also provide lab coats for the Science Decathlon.
Below is a list for costumes for each character.  Parents, please don’t be overwhelmed by this list.  I’ve tried to make it as simple as possible.   If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me.  I work at a high school, so after 2:00 p.m. would be preferable.  I am considering setting up times that I will be available at the studio to help with costumes, if necessary.  I have a sewing machine there and would be willing to help with whatever you need.  I have to get the set finished first, so it will need to be a little bit later.

Costumes

Sharpay

Your costumes need to be bright and sparkly.  Look for pink, but any bright color will work.  The costume for Bop to the Top needs to coordinate with Ryan’s and we will help you with this costume.

Ryan

Your costumes will need to be eccentric and colorful.  The costume for Bop to the Top needs to coordinate with Sharpay’s and will need to be bold.  We will help you with this one.  You will also need hats.  We have some in the costume room, so check there first.

Gabrielle

Your costumes should be conservative and feminine.  Dresses are a good idea, but not mandatory.  The dress you wear for the Science Decathlon under the lab coat should be red.

Troy, Chad, Zeke, Jason, etc. (Jocks)

We will provide uniforms for the game, but for practice scenes just wear black PE shorts and a red t-shirt.  All the other scenes, you will wear regular school clothes.

Taylor, Martha, etc. (Brainiacs)

Your costumes should be conservative and preppy.  Example: Button-up shirts, polos, cardigans, any plants besides jeans.

Ms. Darbus

Ms. Darbus is very eccentric.  The crazier the costumes the better.  Almost anything will go.  Check with me if you have any questions.  You could get by with two or three costumes.

Coach Bolton

Most of the time he will just wear a work-out suit, jacket and pants.  On the day of the game, he should wear a blazer and black pants.  If you can find a red blazer, that would be great.

Ms Tenney

Ms. Tenney is a science teacher.  Think of science teachers that you have had and find something along those lines.  A skirt and a blouse would be great.

Ripper, Mongo, etc. (Skater Dudes)

Baggy pants, T-shirts with logos, hats, etc.  You will need a skate board.  If you don’t have one, let me know and we will get one for you.

Jackie Scott

Button-up shirt with a vest and tie.  You can wear this with jeans or with dress pants.

James, Susan, Cyndra, Audrey, Lucinda (Thespians)

Theater people are a little unique.  You will need unique costumes to portray this.  Feel free to go a little crazy, but just a little.  Don’t go overboard.  If you find something fun, go with it.
